Welcome
At Willowdown, we believe in flourishing together with kindness, respect and aspiration. This vision shapes every part of our school life and guides us in creating a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring environment for all.
As Headteacher, I feel privileged to watch children discover their strengths and grow in confidence every single day. Our values, Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Aspirational are the threads that run through all we do. Through The Willowdown Way, these values become daily habits, helping our children to be not only successful learners, but thoughtful friends and compassionate members of our community.
We are proud to be a Thrive accredited school, which means we place children’s emotional and social development at the very heart of learning. The Thrive Approach helps us to understand each child’s needs and respond in ways that support their wellbeing. By nurturing these foundations, we ensure every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn.
Whether your child joins us at age 2 or later in their school journey, our dedicated team is committed to removing barriers and celebrating every achievement, big or small. Our curriculum is carefully designed to promote inclusion and address disadvantage, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. We encourage curiosity, creativity and individuality, so that children leave Willowdown, not just with knowledge, but with a lifelong love of learning and a strong sense of who they are.
I hope this website gives you a glimpse into the warmth, ambition and diversity of our school. If you’d like to find out more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we’d be delighted to welcome you and show you all that makes our school, and its community, so special.
Mrs Katie Sharp, Headteacher

At Willowdown, our curriculum is designed to help every child flourish together with kindness, respect and aspiration. We inspire learning through a creative and ambitious curriculum that ensures all pupils experience a broad and balanced education.
Our progressive curriculum, spanning from age 2 to 19 across the Futura Learning Partnership, ensures that children build a strong foundation of procedural and semantic knowledge. By the end of each key stage, pupils retain long-term understanding that prepares them confidently for the next phase of their education - including transition to secondary school.
We are proud that our curriculum not only meets but often exceeds the expectations of the national curriculum. It is carefully designed to promote inclusion and address disadvantage, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Throughout their learning journey, children engage with local professionals, take part in educational visits, and enjoy hands-on experiences in the classroom. These opportunities help pupils understand what it means to be a Historian, Scientist, Athlete, Artist or any other “state of being.” Their learning is celebrated through performances, galleries and shared on Class Dojo, strengthening connections with families and the wider community.
Our values: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Aspirational are embedded throughout the curriculum and lived out through The Willowdown Way. As a Thrive accredited school, we place a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, recognising that children learn best when they feel safe, supported and inspired.
We work in close partnership with parents and carers to provide the best possible education. Every family is supported by our dedicated staff, with additional help available from our Parent and Family Support Advisor and Inclusion Team. We also offer guidance on home learning, parenting, online safety and more.
